Tablet Academy Computing Festival - 6th July 2016
The 6th of July 2016 saw Telford Park School host a Tablet Academy Computing Festival, in association with Gaia Technologies and Acer, with seven schools taking part. Our Computing Festivals aim to involve students in IT based activities through the use of modern technology. At this event we had four different activities including; a MinecraftEdu activity where students had to build a functioning lighthouse, a robotic arm where students had to programme the robot to deposit 'nuclear waste' in a 'disposal bin', LEGO which involved students building and programming a working fan, and finally an interactive session with the popular 'DASH' robots where students used tablets and flowchart based apps to control the robots actions.
This Festival was a great success, and students seemed to enjoy the wide range of activities available to them. These activities helped students from different schools interact with each other in order to complete the tasks involved as well as helping students develop their coding, programming, and problem solving skills contributing towards the completion of their IT curriculum.
Our Learning Festivals are widely well received and our feedback is very good. Given the chance St. Georges Primary School said it "Would be lovely to host an event and have resources available in school.".
